ASDA Fair Price for Fans!

There shouldn't be a price for supporting your club

We have always believed in offering our customers a fair price for any product we sell - and football shirts are no different. Over the last few years, we have strived to offer our fans their official shirts for less, and are still striving to do so!

Take a look at how we've got to where we are and how you can help us achieve our goal of a fair price for fans!

The 2003 Season

In August 2003 Umbro made it difficult for us to purchase ASDA directly with their official Manchester United shirts. To ensure that we could still offer our customers the best price we fought to get a supply of official merchandise from one of our sources on the grey market. Still official quality products but not enough stock for all our footy fans!

Our ASDA prices then meant that our customers and fans were able to support their club at great ASDA value...

Man Utd Short Sleeve Home Shirt
ASDA: £24.86
Man Utd Club Shop: £39.99
JD Sports: £35.00
JJB Sports: £39.00

Prices correct as at 2nd August 2003

In fact, shortly after this Manchester United, Umbro and JJB were found guilty of price-fixing football shirts.

World Cup 2006

In the build up to the World Cup, the majority of the big brands refused to supply their merchandise directly to ASDA.

Because we know the importance of supporting your national team - especially during the biggest tournament in the world! - we were able to source and stock the official England shirt three days in advance of the tournament and sold at £22.

Needless to say, the official shirt flew off the shelves and on to the terraces!

Where do we stand now

Now in 2007, ASDA have recently made a breakthrough after Diadora approached us to sell the official Scotland Shirt in stores across Scotland. After a few teething problems ASDA will sell the adult shirt for £29 - which is over £10 cheaper than other retailers, meaning that Scotland fans will be able to support their national team with pride without paying over the odds!

We now hope that this deal will encourage the big brands to supply football merchandise to ASDA.
